Valley taken by storm
Monday, Oct. 30, 2000 | 1:58 a.m.
The slow and steady rain the Las Vegas Valley was supposed to get Friday turned into a downpour. The storm system that came up from the California coast dropped 1/3 of an inch in just a few hours. The rainfall brought the total for last week to more than 1/2 inch. Las Vegas has received 3.26 inches of rain for the year, just below the average that is normally received by the end of October. There's still a 40 percent chance of rain for today and a 30 percent chance of showers tonight. The rain and cool temperatures will continue off and on for the rest of the week. Snow in the Lake Tahoe area is good news for ski resorts.
