SUN STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS
Steve Kinser already has clinched his 16th Pennzoil World of Outlaws championship, but the "King of the Outlaws" still has some unfinished business to attend to this week in Las Vegas.
The winged sprint cars return to the half-mile dirt oval at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Tuesday and Wednesday nights for the season-ending Z-Max Silver State Shootout.
"I am looking forward to the event in Las Vegas," Kinser said. "I like the track and I have had a lot of success there. I want to celebrate the championship and there is no better time than during the season finale."
Kinser clinched the championship earlier this month by winning the Lone Star Classic at Houston Raceway Park.
Although the championship has been decided coming into the Silver State Shootout, second place remains up for grabs. Only 12 points separate Sammy Swindell and defending series champion Mark Kinser.
Spectator gates open at 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday for the Z-Max Silver State Shootout. Tickets are priced from $12 to $35 and Nevada residents can receive a $5 discount with proper ID on Tuesday. Also on Tuesday, children ages 12 and under (accompanied by a paying adult) will be able to trick or treat in the pits from 6-7 p.m. Children who attend Tuesday's race wearing a costume will receive free admission.
