LV builder’s profit up

Del Webb Corp., a big home builder and developer of Sun Cities in Las Vegas, reported earnings for its first quarter ending Sept. 30 of $16.5 million or 89 cents per share vs. $13.8 million or 74 cents in the year-ago quarter.
The performance exceeded the estimates of analysts polled by Zacks Investment Research of 75 cents per share.
Revenues of $417.7 million were up from $409.6 million in the year-earlier quarter.
Phoenix-based Del Webb is under pressure from potential suitors to improve its financial performance.
