Letter: Whose fault is it but Williams’?

Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000 | 9:34 a.m.

Did I read in the Sun that John Watkins, Jessica Williams' attorney, feels that his client is not culpable for the deaths of those six people on the freeway; that Clark County (that's us, folks, all of us who pay taxes) is to blame, for putting these young people in a position of peril, so close to the freeway?

Let's see. Several hundred thousand vehicles, mine among them, have passed by similar work crews during the life of that program, with nary an incident -- no injuries, no deaths, nothing of significance. Now comes Watkins' client, drunk or high or merely sleepy. She leaves the roadway, slams into these people, kills them, and it's our fault?

What obfuscation! What chutzpah! What total doodoo!
