White Pine enrollment continues to drop

Monday, Oct. 23, 2000 | 5:02 a.m.

Superintendent Mark Shellinger said he'll just be glad when it finally levels off.

The school with the largest loss of pupils over last year was White Pine High with a drop of 59.

Four schools showed an increase in enrollment but, not enough to offset the large hits taken by the other.

Shellinger said the 9 percent drop in pupil population will mean a budget augmentation next month.

Right now, he said the district is overstaffed by five teachers and three custodians, based on the number of students. That's because the district was hoping for an increase in enrollment when it built the budget last year.

No cuts are immediately anticipated.
