Reid honored
Sen. Harry Reid was named Outstanding Democrat of the Decade 1990s at a reception Sunday.
Reid was eligible for the award after winning Democrat of the Year in 1993 and was selected from a field of winners from the 1990s that included Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa, Rep. Shelley Berkeley, D-Nev., and Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman.
In addition to Reid's award, three Grassroots Democrat of the Decade 1990s were given to Mike and Barbara Aupperle, Pauline Goldman and Sam Lieberman.
Kids' website
Children can meet the candidates on the website www.alfy.com.
Alfy, a cartoon character, interviewed both presidential candidates about children's issues. The site presents the interviews in a format developed for young Internet surfers.
The interviews are part of the site's Election Section, which is aimed at children ages 3 to 9.
Parents are encouraged to use the site's content to help their children learn about the electoral process.
