Letter: War heroes gave up everything for democracy
Monday, Oct. 23, 2000 | 10:11 a.m.
He lies in his grave in that country, a free France. In my life over the years, I've struggled at election time over whom I should vote for, which party I should vote for, or if should I vote at all. At these moments I close my eyes and try to visualize how my uncle felt when he ran onto that beach of death. How he felt when he was shot.
Any doubts about me voting vanish with these visions. Come November, please vote for my Uncle Larry, and all the Larrys who gave up the most precious thing they had: life.
