Lakers, Kings clash tonight at Thomas & Mack Center
Monday, Oct. 23, 2000 | 10:37 a.m.
So what if the Los Angeles Lakers are 2-4 in the preseason? They are still the Lakers, they are NBA champs, and they will be at the Thomas & Mack Center tonight to play the Sacramento Kings.
Then again, maybe the Lakers -- featuring former Rebel Isaiah Rider -- are rounding into regular-season form. They've won their last two games, including Sunday's 94-87 win over Golden State at San Diego. Kobe Bryant scored 25 points and Shaquille O'Neal added 15. Bryant's 20.8 average is leading the Lakers.
Sacramento enters the game with a 3-2 record, having beaten Vancouver and Seattle over the weekend. In Sunday's 113-110 victory over the Sonics, Predrag Stojakovic scored 22 to lift his preseason average to 15.4.
But the Kings will likely be without All-Star forward Chris Webber for the third game in a row tonight. He has tendinitis in his right ankle and hasn't played in nine days.
Balcony tickets remain for the game, which begins at 7:30. Call the Thomas & Mack box office at 895-3900.
