FBI seeks help in finding suspects

Henderson Police and the FBI are asking the public to help them identify two suspects in the takeover robbery of a U.S. Bank.

The robbery occurred Oct. 3 at 4550 E. Sunset Road when two men entered the bank and demanded cash. The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

Both are described as white men. One suspect is described as 30 to 35 years old, 6 foot 2 inches tall and about 220 pounds. The other is described as 40 to 45 years old with a heavy build and pockmarked or wrinkled face.

Authorities are offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the bank robbers.

Man in custody; testing ordered

A Las Vegas man accused of threatening President Clinton has been ordered to undergo further mental evaluation.

Richard Lee Trimmer, 32, was indicted in April 1997 on charges of sending Clinton threatening letters. He was released last June from a federal mental health facility after agreeing to treatment following the indictment.

But Trimmer failed to follow through with requirements following his release and federal probation officials took him in to custody earlier this week.

U.S. District Judge Philip Pro Wednesday ordered Trimmer returned to the mental health facility for an evaluation.

Girlfriend sought in death of man

Metro Police have filed a murder warrant against a woman in connection with the Oct. 12 shooting death of her boyfriend, whose body was found in his Rhodes Ranch home last week.

Police are trying to locate Zhen Yu Liang, 38, and arrest her in connection with murder. Liang also goes by the first name of Jenny. She had been living with Patrick T. Sheen for about nine months, Lt. Wayne Petersen of Metro's homicide unit said.

On Oct. 12 officers found Sheen shot to death in his house on Royal Wood Court after being called by relatives who had not seen or heard from him in more than a week, police said.

Detectives are not sure of Liang's whereabouts. She apparently was born in China and her mother still lives there, Petersen said.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Metro's homicide unit at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.

Man in desert was Californian

A man found dead in the desert has been identified as 38-year-old Gary Udell Tarter of California.

A person riding a horse in the desert area south and west of Gomer and Industrial roads Saturday found a decomposed body of a man. An autopsy determined the man had been shot to death, police said.

Tarter was last seen by his family a couple of months ago when he told them he was going to Las Vegas. Tarter apparently had ties to Clark County in 1997, but detectives were unsure if he was visiting friends in the area.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Metro's homicide unit at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.

Wild horse program gets extra $9 mil.

The Bureau of Land Management's wild horse and burro program got a $9.5 million boost in this year's federal budget. The money will help increase gatherings of the wild animals on Nevada's ranges, BLM Director Tom Fry said.

More than 4,000 horses and burros will be removed from the range, primarily in Northern Nevada during November, Fry said.

The additional funding came in a $128.2 million Interior Department budget package approved by Congress this month. President Clinton signed the bill on Oct. 12.
