Letter: Mayor deserves police protection
Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000 | 10:10 a.m.
Regarding the recent incident in which his car was broken into, the police did just fine. The mayor, in his zealous attempt to be an asset to the community, appears to forget that we live among some people who may wish him harm. He needs and deserves protection.
In Chicago, I used to see Mayor Richard Daley escorted by three to four bodyguards everywhere he went. He also had a driver. My father remembers a police car parked on the street where he resided for the sole purpose of watching his home. Goodman and his family deserve the same.
