Former UNLV point guard Mark Dickel of New Zealand has signed a one-year contract with the Victoria Titans of Australia.
Dickel, 23, remained in Australia after impressing for New Zealand's national team, the Tall Blacks, at the Olympic Games in Sydney. He is set to make his league debut for the Titans when the 2000-01 season starts next month.
The Titans, who finished second in the Australian national league last season, are coached by Brian Goorjian, who originally recommended Dickel when UNLV called seeking prospective players five years ago. Goorjian is the son of Ed Goorjian, who was an assistant coach for former Rebel head coach Jerry Tarkanian.
Dickel completed his eligibility at UNLV last spring and led the NCAA in assists with 9.2 per game.
