An octogenarian makes some observations:
In spite of all the prognostications to the contrary, no matter who gets elected things will go on very much as usual.
It's like the man said when asked how he liked two candidates running for high-elective office. He replied, "Well, I'm just glad only one of them can be elected."
District Attorney Stewart Bell has ruled that the ethics charges against McDonald do not warrant criminal charges.
Prosecutors wrote: "While such a position seems to be inconsistent with the prior actions and/or voting record of Councilman McDonald, as well as his personal relationship with (Rick) Rizzolo, it could be argued that, prior actions notwithstanding, he had an epiphany which caused him to conclude that the moral values of the community were at stake."
If you believe that, I know a piece of the Black Rock Desert that is perfect for growing lettuce and tomatoes.
Somebody knows something, but to this date the case of Cary Sayegh has never been solved.
How times change.
I enjoyed the actual sports events, but the addition of such activities as water ballet, girl gymnasts leaping through hoops with ribbons trailing, and other events that involve only a few spectators and participants took away from major sports.
For years bowlers have been petitioning the Olympic Committee to recognize their sport, but to no avail.
So now they are considering ballroom dancing?
Not enough teachers to staff not enough schools. Not enough police on the streets. An alarming dearth of nurses in our hospitals.
Pontificators are saying we have to interest more young people in these professions.
One way to do that would be to make education less expensive and thus available to a greater number.
