Red Rock offers wildlife views
Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000 | 9:58 a.m.
Among the upcoming hikes in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is a four-mile trek in search of wildlife.
The hikes and other educational programs are free, but reservations are needed. Call 363-1922.
Some of the programs on tap:
Watching for Wildlife: Four-mile round trip Thursday for 10-year-olds to adults to watch autumn wildlife. The route is strenuous in spots as it follows an old, rocky road that is all uphill (then all downhill).
Calico Tanks Hike: Three-mile moderately strenuous hike Saturday to learn about finding water in the desert. The trail features scenic views of the colorful Calico Hills.
People, Water and the Spanish Trail: Four-mile easy hike Saturday following the trail of explorers.
