Letter: Retired generals shouldn’t be seen this way

These generals, no doubt, feel that since they're retired, they are simply exercising the same rights that all civilians in our democracy enjoy. Nonsense! To have several of our most prominent retired general officers aligning themselves in such a public manner with a candidate is slick but inappropriate. Why? Because many Americans, particularly those with little or no military experience, could very well be led to the conclusion that George W. is the military's candidate. These tone-deaf generals have apparently forgotten the importance of appearance. No, this doesn't portend a "7 Days in May" scenario, but it is an unfortunate step in the blurring of the line between the military establishment and partisan politics.
