Golf: Rebels 11th in tournament

The UNLV golf team (289-295-294-878) shot 9-over par in the final round of the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate at Birmingham, Ala., on Tuesday to finish in 11th place in the team standings. Clemson won its fourth straight title. Leading the way for UNLV was sophomore standout Calvin Kupeyan (69-74-72-215), who finished the 54-hole tournament at 3-over par and tied for 20th overall.
Freshman Travis Whisman (73-71-74-218) cracked the top half of the group at 5-over par, finishing 29th overall of 60 competitors. Fellow freshman James Oh (72-72-76-220) followed in 33rd place and sophomore Tyler Mays (80-78-72-230) finished 56th. Newcomer Justin Lee (75-80-77-232) placed 58th.
