Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000 | 11:05 a.m.

CARSON CITY -- Kenneth A. Rohrs, who resigned as executive director of the state Ethics Commission to find something more challenging, is going to become administrator of the state Division of Museums and History.

At the ethics commission, Rohrs was paid $72,000 a year and had supervision over one employee. He's going to an agency with a $5 million budget and 80 workers. He pay will be $68,000.

"I'm a history nut," Rohrs said Tuesday. He was a history major in college. Prior to working with the ethics commission he was chief operating officer at the National Judicial College in Reno.

His new job, which he takes over Oct. 30, will be "a challenge and an opportunity."

He will oversee museums in Carson City, Las Vegas and Los City at Overton, the Nevada Historical Society in Reno and the railroad museums in Carson City, East Ely and in Boulder City which will be opened next year.

No replacement has been named for Rohrs at the Ethics Commission. The deadline for filing applications is Oct. 23.
