Hundreds sign petition seeking to oust adult bookstore from south Reno

And about a dozen people on Monday asked Washoe County commissioners to set tougher standards to keep adult businesses away from homes when they rewrite ordinances governing such businesses.

Commissioners are scheduled to consider regulations for licensing adult entertainment when they meet next Tuesday.

That's the same day Janra Enterprises will go before the Reno City Council to appeal a denial of a permit for its Suzie's Adult Superstore on South Virginia Street.

County officials issued the store a temporary business license on Aug. 18. But city officials say they have the last word on zoning and building permits.

The store was shut down last week when the city had the power cut off because the owners didn't have a permit for 16 video booths.

Janra Enterprises has sued the city and county in federal court.
