Event to benefit Nathan Adelson Hospice

The Golden Monarch Council will host its first wine tasting 6 p.m Oct. 19 at Southern Nevada Music, 4795 Industrial Road.

This event will benefit Nathan Adelson Hospice's Families in Focus program. Tickets are $35 each.

The Golden Monarch Council is a group of professional Las Vegas women who support Nathan Adelson Hospice. For more information, call 733-0320.

Henderson to host six-part workshop

The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department will host a six-part driving workshop for teen drivers Friday through Oct. 29 at the Black Mountain Recreation Center, 599 Greenway Road.

Classes will meet 4-8 p.m. Friday and Oct. 27; 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday and Oct. 28; and 1-5 p.m. Sunday and Oct. 29.

Participation is $100 per teen, ages 15-18. Students must attend every class.

Students will be taught how to drive with a classroom course that is approved by the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles. Successful completion of the course is required to obtain a driver's license.

Lee Canyon Ski Patrol is holding its annual Ski Swap 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday at McGhie's Ski Chalet, 4502 W. Sahara Ave. For more information, call 270-2153.

MLK Senior Center hosting free event

The Fall Senior Health and Wellness Fair, which was scheduled to run until 4 p.m. today, will be open from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Economic Opportunity Board MLK Senior Center, 2420 N. Martin Luther King Blvd., Building B.

The free fair will offer hearing evaluations, eye exams, glucose testing, blood pressure and consultation, facials, massage therapy, body fat analysis, foot care clinic (insurance required), health care information, osteoporosis screening, chiropractic, cholesterol testing, reflexology and aroma therapy.

Sunrise Hospital shows off facilities

Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center and Sunrise Children's Hospital will host their fifth annual Quality Fair 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and 6-10 p.m. Thursday in the Adelson Auditorium, 3186 S. Maryland Parkway.

The fair will feature 36 exhibits, presented by every department.

Immunizations

Health District immunization clinics are open each week in Southern Nevada. Immunizations are provided without charge to children and young adults under the age of 21 in any of four public health centers and 15 satellite clinics. To find out which centers will be closed in observance of Nevada Day, call Peggy Hensley at 383-1351. The following clinics will be open this week, Oct. 18-24:
