Limousine trial set

A Clark County District Court judge has set a February trial date in a Nevada limousine association's bid to end state regulation of the industry.
Judge Ron Parraguirre dismissed motions for summary judgment from the Independent Limousine Owners/Operators Association as well as the state, on behalf of the Transportation Services Authority.
The ILOA argues that the state's limousine regulations are unconstitutional while the TSA says the association does not have the legal standing to assert that claim in court.
Parraguirre set a Feb. 12 trial date on the case. Both sides argued for summary judgment in an Aug. 28 hearing, during which six attorneys represented the state and three transportation companies that intervened to defend existing regulations. The ILOA was represented by the Washington, D.C.-based Institute for Justice.
