Letter: Thief deserves to suffer for heartless deed
Monday, Oct. 16, 2000 | 10:16 a.m.
While shopping, someone removed my aluminum cane from the cart! I am physically challenged and must use a cane to assist me with walking. I find it hard to believe that anyone would stoop so low and do such a thing! There are thoughtless and inconsiderate people living here. How could anyone do this to a handicapped person?
If it was taken for resale value to buy cheap booze or drugs, the person who took it will be disappointed.
The cane is of no value to anyone but me. It is the difference between walking and not walking. When the arthritis pain is excruciating in my knees, I have to use a second cane.
I hope that whoever saw fit to steal the cane needs it more than I do. What kind of lowlife would steal from a handicapped senior?
I have but one thing to say to you, thief. One day, may you know what it means to be handicapped as I find myself now. Perhaps this will happen to you.
Remember, what goes around comes around!
