Gaming Board postpones vote on Rosemont casino

CHICAGO -- Citing pending litigation, the Illinois Gaming Board on Thursday postponed a final vote it had tentatively set for next week on whether to authorize a proposed floating casino in suburban Chicago.
Emerald Casino Inc., the development group behind the project, applied more than a year ago to move the license for its defunct East Dubuque riverboat to Rosemont.
But the project has been tied up by a lawsuit filed against the Gaming Board by Lake County developers who want their own casino. The rival group challenged the constitutionality of a 1999 law that appeared to clear the way for the Rosemont proposal.
