Fallon to Fernley route will be closely watched
Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000 | 3:26 a.m.
For openers, troopers are looking for commuters who don't use their headlights.
Last year, the Nevada Department of Transportation posted signs requiring motorists to turn on their headlights in an effort to reduce the number of head-on collisions.
Two Fallon residents were killed Oct. 1. Two other Fallon residents were killed Aug. 9 on the same basic stretch of highway.
The patrol's special enforcement unit will be spending several hours a day on the highway, ticketing people who do not use their headlights or who try to pass with insufficient clearance.
