Ethnic diversity targeted in series on scholarships, financial aid

The School/Community Culturally Diverse Scholarship and Financial Aid Workshops will begin 5:30-7:30 p.m. today at the Rainbow Library, 3150 N. Buffalo Drive.
It is the first of eight workshops co-sponsored by the Clark County School District to help seniors find college tuition assistance.
Other workshops will cover scholarships that target specific ethnic groups and national heritage.
They are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Whitney Library, 5175 E. Tropicana Ave., and 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road, focusing on programs for European-American students; 1 p.m. Saturday at the West Charleston Library, 6301 W. Charleston Blvd., focusing on Asian-American students; 5:30 p.m. Monday, West Las Vegas Library, 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd., focusing on black students; 5:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Las Vegas Library, 833 Las Vegas Blvd. North, focusing on American Indian students; and 5:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at the North Las Vegas Library, 2300 Civic Center Drive, focusing on Hispanic students.
In addition, a workshop to complete a draft of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid will be offered 10 a.m. Oct. 21 at UNLV, Classroom Building A, Room A-112. For more information, call Linda Young at 799-8484.
