In 1998 Vandever received 127,794 votes countywide, and Herrera in the same election received 14,696 votes in his district. Reminds me of ...

Editorial: City should turn down 'Net deal
Despite the seeming pot of gold, city officials should reject this entreaty from Down Under. For starters, gambling should be an enterprise run by private businesses with strict state oversight. State lotteries certainly are popular, but the fact is that government shouldn't be in the business of running games of chance. Word has gotten back to McCain that a few fellow Republicans, who are auto industry allies, are anonymously placing holds on the legislation. They apparently object to the criminal sanctions in McCain's legislation.
