Letter: Bigger issues than college betting
Monday, Oct. 9, 2000 | 10:01 a.m.
It is most sickening that the parents will be responsible for the extravagant medical bill that will occur because of this injury. Only because the NCAA does not carry the needed insurance coverage.
We that bet on college sports don't do bodily harm to the players. But Sen. John McCain and his colleagues, and the NCAA, want Congress to pass legislation halting college betting in Nevada.
The above group would do more good if they would devote more time to seeing that families are covered with a catastrophic insurance in the event (God forbid) a son or daughter sustains an injury.
