Versie Lee Adkison

Versie Lee Adkison, 78, of Ozark, Mo., died Sunday in an Ozark nursing home. She was born July 8, 1922, in Darlington, Fla. A former Las Vegas resident, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Jerome Adkison of Las Vegas and Buddy Adkison of Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters, Julle F. Jackson of Las Vegas and Nettie Ruth Dickey of Rogersville, Mo.; one sister, Willie Vee Reddick of Niceville, Fla.; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Cheyenne. Graveside services will follow in Bunkers Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.

Leroy A. Barnett

Leroy A. Barnett, 92, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born April 2, 1908, in Marion, Ohio. A resident for 50 years, he was a Desert Inn pit boss until retiring in 1973 and was a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by one son, David Barnett of Las Vegas; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Juli Brandwein

Juli Brandwein, 84, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 25, 1915, in Poland. A resident for eight years, she was a retired tailor.

She is survived by one daughter, Lora Stavinsky, and two sons, Benjamin Brandwein and Jack Brandwein, both of Las Vegas; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Thursday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Jacqueline L. Buchner

Jacqueline L. Buchner, 68, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospital. She was born May 29, 1932, in Detroit. A resident for 12 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Richard H.; four sons, Scott Rebtoy of Tulsa, Okla., Kevin Rebtoy of Houston, Jimmy Vaughn of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Jerry Vaughn of Las Vegas; one daughter, Kendra Carter of Las Vegas; and eight grandchildren.

Margaret Lorraine Bunton

Margaret Lorraine Bunton, 56, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. A PBX operator, she was born Dec. 2, 1943, in Pawhuska, Okla.

She is survived by her husband, Ulyses; two sons, Raymond T. Glover and Robert D. Glover, and one daughter, Jacqueline L. Glover, all of Los Angeles; her mother, Mattie L. Peyton of Las Vegas; one sister, Twyla L. Mallard of Costa Mesa, Calif.; and three grandsons.

Wayne Anthony 'Tony' Callaway Jr.

Wayne Anthony "Tony" Callaway Jr., 62, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born July 30, 1938, in Los Angeles. A resident for 13 years, he was a businessman and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Grace; two daughters, Christina of Las Vegas and Lisa of California; two sons, Vincent of California and Steven of Las Vegas; his mother, Gretta Cox of Cypress, Calif.; one brother, Jim Cox of Long Beach, Calif.; one sister, Carol Patrick of Garden Grove, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-8 p.m. Friday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Davis Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Claudine C. Carr

Claudine C. Carr, 80, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born April 19, 1920, in Louisiana. A resident for 42 years, she was a hotel pantry worker and member of the Pilgrim Christian Society and the Evergreen Usher Board.

She is survived by one daughter, Lue Birdia Jacobs, and two sons, Henry Stamps and Henry Frazier, all of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Greater Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 1915 Lexington St. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Clyde G. Cobb

Clyde G. Cobb, 82, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local health care center. He was born July 5, 1918, in Quincy, Ill. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired Clark County School District administrator, a World War II and Korean War Air Force veteran, past president of the Nevada State Golf Association and the Southern Nevada Golf Association.

He is survived by two daughters, Judith Blankenship of Las Vegas and Sandra Bowker of Lebanon, Ky.; two sons, Irvin Cobb of Grants Pass, Ore., and Clyde Cobb III of Oceanside, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services are scheduled at noon Friday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Carrie Frances Cox

Carrie Frances Cox, 40, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. She was born Nov. 3, 1959, in Bozeman, Mont. A resident for 12 years, she was a hairstylist.

She is survived by her husband, Troy A.; two daughters, Savanah Cox of Las Vegas and Joanna Le'Gall of Boise, Idaho; her father, Jerry Ostrem of Helena, Mont.; her mother, Camille Holley, and one sister, Vicki Parot, both of Clarkston, Wash.; and one brother, David Ostrem of Los Alamos, N.M.

Visitation is scheduled 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 9:30 a.m. services Saturday in the Hollywood and Stewart LDS chapel. Burial will be in St. George City Cemetery.

Rachel G. Diestelhorst-Hillig

Rachel G. Diestelhorst-Hillig, 83, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born April 19, 1917, in Lincoln, Kan. A resident for 15 years, she was a retired waitress.

She is survived by three daughters, Donna Price of Las Vegas, Ruthann Mason of Coffeeville, Kan., and Dwalia Weldon of Harrah, Okla.; two sisters, Marion Hull and Ann Carroll, both of Winfield, Kan.; one brother, C.D. Dumbar of El Dorado, Kan.; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Ronald G. Dixon

Ronald G. Dixon, 58, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Henderson. He was born Jan. 26, 1942, in Michigan. A resident for 38 years, he was an employee of Timet in Henderson for 34 years and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Anita; two daughters, Laurie Mason of Las Vegas and Sheryl Klein of South Dakota; one son, Bruce Dixon of Las Vegas; three brothers, Roger Dixon, Ross Dixon and Randy Dixon, all of Michigan; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-8 p.m. Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Additional visitation is scheduled 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. services Sunday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home.

Sharon Annette Haproff

Sharon Annette Haproff, mother of three and beloved wife of William N. Haproff, died Wednesday in her home of complications to lung cancer. She was 62.

She was a member of the Local Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of Henderson and had been Justice Court Clerk for the city of Henderson during the 1960s.

Born in East St. Louis, Ill., she lived in Southern Nevada for 40 years.

She is survived by by her husband of 13 years, William, as well as her daughter, Dr. Dara Welborn-Gothelf; sons, James Welborn of Boston and Matthew Welborn of Henderson; and two grandchildren, Kaylie and Steven.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James P. Welborn.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Friday at Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Henderson. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

Carol D. Harris

Carol D. Harris, 64, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 27, 1936, in Stollings, W.Va. A resident for 26 years, she was a retired manager.

She is survived by her husband, Don; two daughters, Anita Whitead of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Brook O'Donnell of New Orleans; two sons, Eric Batteiger of Colorado Springs and Mark Batteiger of Billings, Mont.; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

John E. Howard

John E. Howard, 76, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 2, 1924, in Columbus, Ohio. A resident for 37 years, he was a retired electrician.

He is survived by his wife, Dee; one daughter, Bonnie Thompson of Las Vegas; six sons, Jack Howard Jr. of Laguna Niguel, Calif., and Steve Howard, Michael Howard, David Howard, Chris Howard and Kenny Howard, all of Las Vegas; two sisters, Isabelle Lindner of Mesa, Ariz., and Maryann White of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; four brothers, Jesse Howard of Gahanna, Ohio, and William Howard, Bud Howard and Danny Howard, all of Columbus; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2 p.m. until a 4 p.m. vigil service Friday in Christ the King Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive. Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday in Christ the King Church. Burial will be in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Henry Faye Jackson

Henry Faye Jackson, 73, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born July 5, 1927, in Darnell, La. A resident for 45 years, he was a landscaper, a member of the Masons and the Elks.

He is survived by one daughter, Lola Mae Mims of Rialto, Calif.; one son, Henry M. Jackson, and five sisters, Ida Jackson, Melverta Jackson, Millie Smith, Bessie Page and Blandine Jackson, all of Las Vegas; four brothers, Charles Jackson and Morris Jackson, both of Las Vegas, Raymond Jackson of Utah and Willie Nibblets of Detroit; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Bill Kachmarik

Bill Kachmarik, 45, of Henderson died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 24, 1955, in Long Beach, Calif. A resident for three years, he was a project manager for an electrical company.

He is survived by his parents, Bill and Nancy Kachmarik of Henderson.

Harry Keith

Harry Keith, 79, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born July 5, 1921, in Chicago. A resident for 17 years, he was a retired production manager for a book-binding company and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia; two sons, Larry Keith of Palatine, Ill., and Wayne Keith of Flower Mound, Texas; and one sister, Ruth Siver of Las Vegas.

Graveside services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Donald F. Layman

Donald F. Layman, 64, of Henderson died Sunday in Henderson. He was born Dec. 9, 1935, in Camden, N.J. A resident for 20 years, he was a retired field engineer manager for a computer manufacturer, a Korean War Navy veteran, a member of the Lions and coached youth soccer from 1980 until 1990.

He is survived by his wife, Leigh; two sons, Bill Layman of Reno and Devin Layman of Portland, Ore.; one brother, Ron Layman of San Jose, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Community Lutheran Church, 3720 E. Tropicana Ave. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Augusta L. McInnis

Augusta L. McInnis, 70, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. A CAT bus driver, he was born Oct. 16, 1929, in Ringgold, La.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; two sons, Reginald McInnis of Las Vegas and Kevin McInnis of Minneapolis; three daughters, Gretchen Harris of Los Angeles, Francine McInnis of Minneapolis and Sandra Brooks; her mother, Sarah D. McInnis; three brothers, Marvin McInnis, C.J. McInnis and Horace Owens; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation was scheduled one hour prior to 2 p.m. services today in Unity Baptist Church, 545 N. Marion Drive. Burial will be in California. Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Myron M. Miles

Myron M. Miles, 77, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born July 8, 1923, in New York City. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired air cargo manager, a World War II Army veteran, a member of the Moose and Elks, both in Inglewood, Calif.

He is survived by two daughters, Tammie Miles-Noble of Las Vegas and Toni Miles of Redondo Beach, Calif.; three stepsons, Richard Padilla of Tucson, Ariz., Michael Ketchum of San Diego and Patrick Ketchum of Encino, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Cheryl Ketchum of Riverside, Calif., and Terri Ketchum-Henderson of Mission Viejo, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Gladys Porter

Gladys Porter, 90, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 10, 1910, in St. Joseph, La. A resident for 40 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by six sons, Jim Porter, Charles Porter, Herman Porter and William A. Porter, all of Las Vegas, Robert Porter of Seattle and Robert Lee Porter of Lake Providence, La.; two daughters, Marie A. Payne and Sue Ratliff, both of Las Vegas; 47 grandchildren, 100 great-great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 1-5 p.m. Friday in the Meadows Room at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be noon Saturday in Bunkers Chapel. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

William L. Price Jr.

William L. Price Jr., 44, of Henderson died Thursday in Henderson. He was born June 16, 1956, in Tacoma, Wash. A resident for nine years, he was an instructor in hazardous material.

He is survived by his parents, Jean and William Price Sr. of Henderson; three brothers, Lawrence B. Price of Henderson, Brian J. Price of Canyon Country, Calif., and John S. Price of Marfa, Texas; two sisters, Nandra Robinson of Garden Valley, Calif., and Therrisa L. Doyle of Alpine, Calif.; and his grandmother, Pearl Marx of Bellfair, Wash.

Charles Riner

Charles Riner, 69, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospital. He was born July 4, 1931, in Wichita, Kan. A resident for 33 years, he retired as a TWA airline supervisor after 34 years, was an Army and Navy veteran, a member of the Masons and the Shriners.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; one son, Dan Riner of Las Vegas; three daughters, Rhonda Larocca of Canton, Ohio, Sherry Riner of Las Vegas and Cindy Walters of Harleysville, Pa.; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

James Thornton

James Thornton, 65, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 16, 1935, in Louisiana. A resident for 21 years, he was a baker.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa.

Angelo Trujillo Romero-Salas

Angelo Trujillo Romero-Salas died Sept. 29, his date of birth, in a local hospital.

He is survived by his parents, Rafael and Stephanie Romero-Salas, one sister, Natasha Romero-Salas, and his grandmother, Ester Romero-Salas, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Palm Chapel, Eastern.

Raymond E. Young

Raymond E. Young, 78, of Pahrump died Sunday in Las Vegas. A project manager and an Army veteran, he was born Sept. 9, 1922, in Santa Ana, Calif.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; two sons, John Young of Pahrump and Donald Young of Las Vegas; one daughter, Betty Ann of Roseburg, Ore.; one stepdaughter, Adele Csensick Bernard of Rixeyville, Va.; one sister, Barbara Skaggs of Lompoc, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.

Services were scheduled at 10 a.m. today in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Graveside services were scheduled in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.
