COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Lottery supporters have pumped more than $250,000 more into the effort during recent weeks.
Gov. Jim Hodges' South Carolina Education Lottery Coalition has raised more than $822,800 and has drawn its first major contributions from companies with a role in lotteries. A report from that group shows:
South Carolinians will vote Nov. 7 on whether to amend the state constitution to allow the state to run a lottery. The proceeds from the lottery would be earmarked for education.
