Vegas builder Vision Craft Homes sues state over license revocation

A Las Vegas contractor filed a lawsuit in Clark County District Court to overturn a license revocation ordered by the Nevada State Contractors' Board.
Vision Craft Homes Inc., a residential and small commercial contractor, petitioned the court to review the Aug. 22 decision that revoked the company's license and ordered it to pay restitution and investigative costs.
The suit said the Contractors' Board failed to give the company adequate notification of the revocation hearing and said the board acted improperly by ordering the action while the company was settling a construction defect claim from a customer.
The Contractors' Board said it revoked the company's license for failure to pay for materials and services, contracting with an unlicensed contractor, substandard workmanship, violation of building laws, failure to comply with a notice to correct, failure to keep records of contracts, receipts and disbursements, diversion of funds and departure from or disregard of plans or specifications.
A representative of Vision Craft could not be reached for comment on those allegations.
A contractor that has a license revoked must reapply with the Contractors' Board for a new license, a process that presently takes about four to six months to complete, an agency spokeswoman said. Applicants must pay a $600 fee to apply for a license.
