LV employees reject union organizing

A bid by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers to unionize ramp employees at Las Vegas-based National Airlines has failed.
The National Mediation Board determined that 33 of 82 eligible voters favored representation by IAM Local 845, falling short of the 42 needed to represent the group.
The IAM represents 620 air transport workers at four airlines in Las Vegas and began gathering signatures from National employees in July.
It was the first bid by a union to represent an employee group at National, which has been flying since May 1999.
