Letter: 1991 law gives associations license to abuse
Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000 | 10:35 a.m.
We homeowners who have been run out of our homeowners association-dominated homes know who these malicious attorneys are, along with their extremely wealthy political action group.
When their common interest ownership law was passed by the 1991 Nevada Legislature, these culprits immediately began conspiring with vindictive homeowners association directors to harass homeowners by fining us such exorbitant amounts of money that we could never pay this extortion.
As a result, we began losing our homes to foreclosure.
Prior to the 1991 passage of the Draconian legislation sponsored by the Community Associations Institute, few Nevada homeowners had serious problems with their homeowners association directors. This law was written by the Community Associations Institute to oppress homeowners by depriving us of our civil rights and constitutional protections.
Some of us have, unfortunately, looked into the eye of our enemy. The Community Associations Institute is one huge and ugly beast that needs to be slayed.
