Free screenings offered at fair
Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center and the Diabetes Treatment Center will host Health and Diabetes Fest 2000 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Desert Springs Hospital parking lot, 2121 E. Flamingo Road.
The fair will be offering free blood sugar screenings, osteoporosis screenings, eye screenings, foot screenings, blood pressure screenings, immunizations and hearing tests. For more information, call 369-7560.
Fair offered for employees, public
The Showboat hotel-casino, celebrating its name change to the Castaways, will host a free health fair for its employees and the community 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday.
More than 30 health care providers are scheduled to be a part of the activities, offering a wide array of services at no charge, including EKG and cholesterol testing, eye examinations, chiropractic screenings and massage therapist sessions.

9 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday at UNLV, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway; 7 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Thursday at Las Vegas High School, 6500 E. Sahara Ave.; 7 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Friday at Las Vegas High School, 6500 E. Sahara Ave.; 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 130 N. Pecos Road, Henderson; 7 a.m.-2 pm. Monday at Las Vegas Academy, 315 S. Seventh St.
Nursing conference
The Southern Nevada Black Nurses Association presents Conference 2000 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at the West Las Vegas Library, 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd. For more information, call 615-3575.
Immunizations
Health District immunization clinics are open each week in Southern Nevada. Immunizations are provided without charge to children and young adults under the age of 21 in any of four public health centers and 15 satellite clinics. The following clinics will be open this week, Oct. 4-10:
DISTRICT HEALTH CENTER: 625 Shadow Lane, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
HENDERSON PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 129 W. Lake Mead Drive, Building A, Suite 10, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
EAST LAS VEGAS PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 560 N. Nellis Blvd., Suite E12, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
NORTH LAS VEGAS FAMILY HEALTH CENTER: 2225 Civic Center Drive, Suite 240C, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
BOULDER CITY CLINIC: Multi-Purpose Building, 1204 Sixth St., 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m., Wednesday.
MEADOWS VILLAGE CLINIC: Chester W. Stupak Community Center, 300 W. Boston Ave., 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday.
GREEN VALLEY CLINIC: Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway, 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3:30 p.m. Friday.
CHEYENNE I-3 CLINIC: Centers for Healthy Families, 3266 Las Vegas Blvd. North, No. 12, 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. Friday.
FREMONT MEDICAL CLINIC: 4880 S. Wynn Road, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Immunizations free to anyone who walks in.
BELROSE WIC OFFICE: 2917 W. Washington Ave., 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. Monday.
SOUTH CLINIC-HOLY FAMILY CATHOLIC CHURCH: 4490 Mountain Vista St., noon-3 p.m. Oct. 10.
NORTHEAST WIC CLINIC: 2404 E. Stewart Ave., 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. Oct. 10.
