Gafforini wires the field

Scott Gafforini's magic number was 5 on Saturday night at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Before the start of every late-model stock car race at The Bullring, dice are rolled to determine how many cars will be inverted for the start of the race. Gafforini, who qualified fifth, was allowed to start on the pole after the dice turned up a 5.
"I had a feeling it might be a good night right then," Gafforini said.
It turned into a great night. Gafforini seized the lead at the start and dodged numerous caution flags to post his first win in three months at The Bullring.
Steve Anderson, NASCAR Sunbelt Region champion Dick Cobb, his son Rick Cobb and veteran racer Wayne Jacks rounded out the top five.
