Letter: Winner faces losing situation
Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000 | 9:19 a.m.
Should we have a new election in Florida?
No matter who wins, 50 percent of the country will be against him. If Vice President Al Gore wins, followers of Texas Gov. George W. Bush will accuse the Democrats of seeing things on ballots that were not there, and Gore's hands will be tied in domestic and foreign affairs.
If Bush wins, the Democrats will accuse the Republicans in Florida of using voting machines in Democratic areas that frequently would not register presidential votes. They will use the exit polls to justify their claim. His hands will be tied in domestic and foreign affairs, and comedians in Northern cities will make his four years in office the worst years any president ever had.
