Santa will sit with your animals

Santa is donating time to Media Partners for Pets, a Las Vegas organization dedicated to finding homes for as many shelter dogs and cats as it can.

For a $5 sitting fee that goes to Media Partners, Santa will pose with anyone's pet 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the Boulevard mall and on Monday and Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.

In addition, Veterinary Centers of America will be on hand to answer questions about pet health, and a dog trainer will answer questions about behavioral problems. For more information, call 307-1566.

Henderson to host Sounds of the Season

The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department is hosting its seventh annual Sounds of the Season holiday concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Lorna J. Kesterson Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St.

Admission is free. Guest conductor Marcia MacCagno-Neel will join the Henderson Civic Symphony and a choir of student singers playing holiday favorites.

Pose with St. Nick on Monday or Tuesday

Have your picture taken with Santa from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday and from 1-7 p.m. Tuesday at the city of Las Vegas Veterans Memorial Leisure Services Center, 101 S. Pavilion Center Drive.

Digital photos will be taken on site and reprints and sizes are available. Appointments are not necessary.

Concert on Sunday at Holy Family Church

Holy Family Catholic Church's regionally acclaimed adult choir will present its fifth annual Christmas concert at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the church at 4490 Mountain Vista St.

Seniors to receive updates on illness

The senior citizens programs division of the Northwest Community Center and University Medical Center's Silver Advantage program will sponsor a lecture on influenza at 10 p.m. Monday at Seville Terrace Retirement Center, 2000 N. Rampart Blvd.

Dr. Kodwa Dickson will provide an update on influenza and how to cope with the upcoming flu season. He will also discuss which vitamins and medications can help reduce symptoms.

A tribute dinner

for retiring Sen. Richard Bryan, D-Nev., will be held Friday at Paris Las Vegas. The affair, which benefits Christ Episcopal Church, begins at 6:30 p.m. with no-host cocktails and dinner at 8 p.m. The cost is $75.

A Medicare-trained counselor

will answer questions about Medicare Part A and B 2-3 p.m. Monday at Valley Hospital Medical Center, 620 Shadow Lane. For more information, call 338-4665.
