Syracuse out of LV Bowl picture

The 'Cuse apparently will not be on the loose at the Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 21.
Although several bowl projections this week have Syracuse (6-5) of the Big East Conference gaining an at-large entry to play either UNLV or Air Force at Sam Boyd Stadium, it has been learned that Syracuse has a rule prohibiting athletic teams from traveling to an event during final exams week.
Syracuse's final exams end on Dec. 22.
So scratch the Orangemen off the list of potential Las Vegas Bowl candidates. More than likely, Syracuse will end up in Phoenix on Dec. 28 playing in the Insight.com Bowl.
"I hadn't heard anything about that," Las Vegas Bowl director Tina Kunzer-Murphy said on Tuesday. "But I would say our conversations with the Big East about Syracuse were lukewarm at best."
More than likely, the Las Vegas Bowl will end up selecting an SEC team on Sunday. Among the possibilites are Arkansas, LSU, Ole Miss and Mississippi State.
