KENNER, La. -- A pit boss at the Treasure Chest casino and four other people have been accused in a scheme in which the employee allegedly falsified information to qualify friends and family for thousands of dollars in cash rebates.
Sheryl Trosclair, of Harvey, allegedly filled out customer rating cards to make it appear they had gambled large sums of money. As a result, those customers qualified for cash-back bonuses from the casino, state police said.
Surveillance tapes showed the people actually had not gambled at the Treasure Chest, state police said.
Trosclair, 44, was booked earlier this month with four counts of attempted theft by fraud. The other four were booked with various theft counts.
"The investigation is continuing and we do expect to make more arrests," said state police detective Dennis Stewart.
Rob Stillwell, a spokesman for the Boyd Gaming Corp. of Las Vegas, which owns the Treasure Chest, said the company does not comment on criminal investigations. Trosclair could not be reached for comment.
Trosclair had worked at the casino for three years. She has been suspended, Stillwell said.
