Letter: Giving others independence
Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000 | 9:35 a.m.
The lady in charge is Executive Director Mary Evilsizer. It is the job of Mary and all her helpers to help all the disabled, senior citizens or anyone else who needs a lift up, not a handout. Most of the workers are handicapped and understand the problems people can have with not being able to get around without the help of a wheelchair, cane or walker.
Independent living means just that. It means making it possible to stay in your own home instead of a rest home or hospital. What we need are more people like those working for the independent living center. Perhaps then Nevada will become one of the best states to live in for everyone, not just the rich and famous.
Keep up the good work, Mary and all your helpers. We need more like you.
