Letter: Serious election changes in order
Monday, Nov. 27, 2000 | 9:45 a.m.
What is happening now has caused the United States to be laughed at. Citizens should be given an opportunity to voice whether the popular vote should count and the electoral vote be abolished. If it is felt they must continue, I go along with the suggestion that each state have the same number of electoral votes.
Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura stated he would like to abolish parties. There would be no Republicans, Democrats, Reform or Green parties. That is a great idea.
Mudslinging during campaigns is bad enough. There should be a time limit on allowing this action to go on. I would like to see a limit put on campaigning time altogether. I do not doubt the public would like a limit, too.
