Hearing set for Washoe airport expansion
Monday, Nov. 27, 2000 | 4:23 a.m.
The authority wants to build the center at the airport's southwest corner where the old Rewana Farms neighborhood once stood.
Plans call for it to house all of the airport's air cargo carriers, including Federal Express, United Parcel Service, Emery Worldwide, Airborne Express and the U.S. Postal Service.
But it's uncertain whether the center will house the Postal Service's proposed West Coast air cargo hub, which has drawn strong opposition from southwest Reno residents.
A group calling itself Citizens for Airport Accountability has once again begun raising money to hire a noise expert to bolster its claim that the postal hub would have an adverse impact on homes in south Reno.
Residents complain the Postal Service hub would mean noisy early-morning flights.
