Judge may allow computer files in Soria trial
Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000 | 12:02 p.m.
Douglas District Judge Dave Gamble ruled on Monday that authorities did not err when they seized a computer kept by Soria and searched its files.
Gamble also ruled that the 17-page text file found during the search was authentic and authored by the 39-year-old murder suspect.
The judge still is pondering whether the document can be used, indicating he would rule before the Stateline man's trial. It's set to begin Jan. 17.
Soria is accused in the March 19 kidnapping, rape and slaying of nine-year-old Krystal Steadman.
His son, Thomas Soria Jr., admitted helping his father and has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. He's set to testify against his father in January.
