Extra cabs allowed for New Year’s

The Taxicab Authority of Nevada will allow Clark County's 13 cab companies to increase the number of vehicles they operate during the New Year's Eve holiday weekend.
But regulators also agreed not to allow any additional cabs for the 10 days the National Finals Rodeo is in town.
In a recent meeting, the board authorized 10 additional cabs per company to operate from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, and on Monday, Jan. 1. The board also will allow all available vehicles in a company's fleet to operate between 11 a.m. and 2 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 30, and from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 31.
By allowing the maximum, about 500 additional vehicles will be on the road for a total of about 3,500.
Board members also said they would not permit additional cabs during the rodeo, which begins Dec. 1, because even though more than 100,000 people will attend rodeo sessions, they'll be spread out over a 10-day period.
