Letter: Columns offer needed insight
Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000 | 2:55 a.m.
This regards Brian Greenspun's Nov. 12 column, "JOA is here to stay." When I first arrived in this community I was unaware that I had a choice in newspapers. When I subscribed to the Review-Journal it was without knowing the vitriolic conservatism that manned that editorial page.
I have recently taken to reading your columns. At last I found an opinion of someone who is not a reactionary conservative. In the recent election I found myself voting for most of the candidates that the Sun's editorials endorsed. Your JOA column further enlightened me as to the destructive politics that are practiced at the editor's desk of the R-J.
Before I moved to this community I had heard of your father and the great work that he had done in the early years of the development of Las Vegas. He stood up against crime in a city organized by gangsters and led a fight over nuclear weapons testing against overwhelming opposition by the U.S. government. I respect the history of your family and the work that you continue to do in this community.
Today I canceled my subscription to the R-J and began a subscription to your newspaper.
