Trustees’ numbers could grow

Las Vegas could be seeing more of the Clark County School Board -- literally.
Board member Sheila Moulton Thursday proposed that the number of trustees be increased from seven to nine, due to the district's rapid growth.
And while her fellow board members seemed receptive to at least study the idea, Superintendent Carlos Garcia suggested the proposal be approached with extreme caution.
Garcia said school districts with larger boards have not necessarily been more effective.
The board agreed to have its legislative committee research the matter, with a full report expected by January.
In order for the number of board members to be increased, state law would have to be changed.
