A group from the state's search and rescue team went to California this week to practice responding to a major natural disaster.
Nevada's urban search and rescue task force sent 62 members to a catastrophic earthquake training exercise.
Teams participating in the exercise, called "MobEx 2000," were tested during the three-day simulated disaster, which included some complicated rescues, Toby Lamuraglia, state task force member, said.
The state's task force worked with search and rescue teams from California and New Mexico in the exercise.
The national urban search and rescue system was established after the 1989 San Francisco Bay Area earthquake.
