Meadows shooting for 4th straight title

After keeping one impressive winning streak alive this season, The Meadows will look to extend a far more significant streak on Saturday.
The Mustangs (10-0), winners of 28 consecutive football games, will try for their fourth consecutive 2A state title when they host Lincoln County (8-1) at 1 p.m.
"We'll be ready for them," Mustangs coach Frank DeSantis said. "There's no tomorrow. This is it."
The Lynx's only loss of the season came on Oct. 20 at The Meadows, in a hard-fought 21-14 affair.
"Big players make plays in big games, and that's what we need to happen," DeSantis said. "We're expected to win, but I hope we don't play that way. We just need to win every play, and if we do that, we'll win on the scoreboard."
The Meadows has outscored its opponents by a whopping 368-86 this season, with its seven-point victory over Lincoln County its closest result.
"They are a very well-coached team. They have good speed and good line play, and they have a tricky offense," DeSantis said. "They run some misdirection, some option, some play action, so we need to be ready."
Last year, the Mustangs won their third straight state crown -- and fourth overall -- with an easy 27-6 victory over Wells in the title game.
