Man faces charges of sexual assault

A 40-year-old Las Vegas man accused of drugging at least three women into unconsciousness and videotaping himself sexually assaulting them was held this morning in the Clark County jail on $200,000 bond.
Clarence "Jim" Dozier was booked into the jail Wednesday on 11 counts of sexual assault and one count each of administering a drug in the commission of a crime, kidnapping and attempted involuntary manslaughter, said Lt. Tom Monahan of Metro Police's sex crimes unit.
"He would administer a drug he was prescribed to a woman he was acquainted with and he would videotape (the assault)," Monahan said. "One of the victims woke up and thought that this had occurred and contacted the police."
Detectives recovered the tapes. Monahan said in addition to the woman who contacted the police there were two others on the tapes. One of the women was contacted Thursday and detectives are trying to identify the third, Monahan said.
Dozier works in the health care field, but the drugs he is accused of using in the allegations of sexual assault were sedatives prescribed for him. Dozier is a profusionist, a technician who operates machinery during operations like open heart surgery. He is employed by a local company and has worked in many area hospitals, Monahan said.
"In this case there was a high level of trust between the suspect and the victims," he said. "But it's not very often the police are able to obtain a videotape of the event."
Detectives searched Dozier's house Wednesday, but located the videotapes at another location. Monahan would not release where the videotapes were found. The woman who came forward accused Dozier of assaulting her in her home.
Dozier was charged with attempted manslaughter because he is accused of giving one of the women a potentially lethal dose of the prescription drug, Monahan said.
While use of the date-rape drug, GHB, has been used to incapacitate victims before sexual assaults, Monahan said the allegations against Dozier are unusual.
In July, Metro sex crimes detectives were searching for any possible victims after an heir to the Max Factor cosmetics fortune was accused of drugging, sexually assaulting and videotaping several women. Andrew Stuart Luster, 36, a great grandson of the makeup company founder, was charged in California, but authorities said some of the videotapes showed him in Las Vegas resorts.
Luster, currently held in a Ventura County, Calif., jail on $10 million bail, is accused of slipping three women GHB and assaulting them while he videotaped the incident. Police found 50 videotapes in Luster's home, many showing unconscious women who were apparently being assaulted, authorities have said.
Luster has denied the charges. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for January.
