Letter: What’s wrong with those Florida seniors?
Friday, Nov. 17, 2000 | 9:40 a.m.
They admit they didn't know for whom they were voting when they punched their cards. How can this be allowed when all the following appear to be true:
1. Did not all registered voters receive a sample ballot to study prior to Nov. 7?
2. The arrow beside Pat Buchanan's name (large print) pointed directly to the second hole and the arrow beside Gore's name (large print) to the third hole.
3. Does not the law state "one man, one vote"? If so, no revote is legal.
4. If a certain group of people is allowed (illegally) to vote a second time, do not we all have the right to insist that we, too, be granted that same right?
I glimpsed a picture of the ballot and even though I am age 77, I could plainly see the names, arrows and holes in a straight line across the ballot.
Apparently the Florida seniors take their voting rights less seriously than the rest of us.
