Joe Delaney remembers 1969: Laine at the International

Friday, Nov. 17, 2000 | 2:15 a.m.

Frankie Laine was the headline act in the International Casino Theatre, really a mini-theater type lounge, during the hotel's first year. Several years later the hotel became the Las Vegas Hilton. Laine is still active, recording and performing. He plays the Suncoast this month. Comedian Charlie Manna worked here often as an opening act in the main showrooms and authored several books on comedy. The Platters were the originals, with numerous hit records. There are now several groups using the Platters name. The Art Forms were never heard from again.
