Hospital drops suit against Nevada Nursing Board
Friday, Nov. 17, 2000 | 10:59 a.m.
University Medical Center, which sued to stop the Nevada State Nursing Board from releasing a UMC personnel list to a local labor attorney, said it has dropped its lawsuit.
Rick Plummer, UMC spokesman, declined to comment on why the lawsuit was dropped. Court documents didn't say why UMC chose to dismiss the case.
UMC, which said earlier such a move would violate its staff's privacy rights, filed the suit on Oct. 12 as a preemptive strike to block an attorney, Jeffrey Fisher, from obtaining the list of UMC nurses. Fisher said he needed the list to file a class action lawsuit on behalf of several foreign-born Asian UMC nurses who claimed they were paid less than their American-born counterparts.
