Cross country: UNLV’s Barto to run in NCAA Regional
Friday, Nov. 17, 2000 | 4:53 a.m.
UNLV cross country senior Katie Barto became just the second runner in school history to qualify for the NCAA Championships with her sixth-place overall finish at last Saturday's Regional Championships, and will head to Ames, Iowa, this weekend to compete in the national finals.
The 6-kilometer race, hosted by Iowa State University, will be contested on Monday and will feature 31 teams and a total of 255 individual participants.
Barto has steadily cut her times over the course of the season and again ran a personal best at the NCAA West Regional Championships, clocking her first sub-21 minute mark of her career -- and a school best mark in a cross country 6K.
